Professor Ovidiu Folcut, PhD, Rector of the Romanian-American University, was awarded the prestigious title of Doctor Honoris Causa of “Vasile Goldis” Western University of Arad (VGWU, always consistent with its traditional creed “through ourselves!”), which is a member of the European University Association – EUA, the “Carolus Magnus” European Consortium, the Danube Rectors’ Conference, the Association of Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU), the Alliance of Universities for Democracy (AUDEM), and is holding the vice-presidency of FEDE – the European Federation of Higher Schools, a participative body of the Council of Europe.
The award ceremony was attended by Professor Coralia Cotoraci, PhD, Rector of “Vasile Goldis” Western University, and President of the Review Commission (who expressed VGWU admiration and appreciation to RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcut), Professor Cristian Haiduc, PhD, Vice-Rector of VGWU (who read the Laudatio, underlining that VGWU values the prestigious achievements of the RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcut), Associate Professor Aristide Sorin Baschir, PhD, President of the Senate of VGWU (Member of the Review Commission), Professor Anca Hermenean, PhD, Vice-Rector of VGWU (Member of the Review Commission), Professor Andrei Anghelina, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Informatics and Engineering, VGWU (Member of the Review Commission), Professor Radu Despa, PhD, President of the Senate of the Romanian-American University, other members of the VGWU Senate and of the VGWU community. The distinguished Professor Aurel Ardelean, PhD, President of “Vasile Goldis” Western University, and Founding Rector, was a Member of the Review Commission.
It is worth remembering within this special context that just a month before RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcut has received the distinction of Honorary Membership conferred by AFER – on the occasion of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Association of Faculties of Economics in Romania (AFER) – upon persons of great distinction who have rendered exceptional service. RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcut was also the coordinator of the Chapters 19-27 of the AFER’s Volume “Pages from the Romanian Economic Higher Education History, 1843-2013” launched on the occasion of the celebration of 170 Years of Economic Higher Education in Romania, and the 100th Anniversary of the initiation of the First Congress of Romanian Economists (this last celebration took place in November 2013, being also hosted by the historical Aula Magna of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies – ASE). On the occasion of this last celebration mentioned above (which took place in November 2013) RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcut was awarded the “Diploma of Excellence”, this Diploma being handed over to RAU Rector by Professor Gheorghe ZAMAN, Vice President of the Economic, Law, and Sociological Sciences Section of the Romanian Academy, Director of the Institute of National Economy, Romanian Academy, President of the General Association of Economists from Romania, AGER, President of the Scientific Council of Romanian Scientific Society of Management, SSMAR, and Chairman of the Group of Experts of the Romanian Distribution Committee. RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcut is also an Honorary Member of the Romanian Distribution Committee.
