On Monday, October 3, the Romanian-American University (RAU) celebrated the Official Opening of the Academic Year 2016-2017, held in the Aula Magna, in the presence of students and graduates with their families, faculty, administrative staff, representatives of social partners in education, mass-media and the business environment, and the last but not the least members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, such as His Excellency Mr. Kisaburo Ishii, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Romania.
After announcing that the Romanian-American University will commemorate on October 5, 2016, eight years from the passing to eternity of Professor Ion Smedescu, Founding-President and Rector of the Romanian-American University, RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcuţ highlighted the significant focus placed by RAU on internationalization, and capitalising on the latest educational techniques, cooperating with the actors on the labour market while considering scientific, technological, and social and economic evolutions, taking into account the knowledge, skills and attitudes graduates should have today.
Both Professors, RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcuţ and Dumitru Miron, President of the Romanian-American Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture, underlined that education, as the soul of a society, involves action to be achieved, being life itself which opens the way of transmitting continuous knowledge managed towards wisdom, competing on learning how to build trust and accountability by promoting a better relationship between education and practice, fostering innovation as a multi-dimensional challenge. They reconfirmed the continuous RAU’s qualitative preoccupation with a better understanding of students’ rising needs and expectations in academic quality, employability and the facilities offered to them, and delivering further innovation, by making research sustainable, and adequately utilizing technology in integrating and improving administration and student support.
Mr. Leonard Orban, State Councillor with the Presidential Administration (and Professor at RAU), His Excellency Mr. Kisaburo Ishii, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Romania, Mr. Radu Graţian Gheţea, President of CEC Bank (and Professor at RAU), and Mrs. Simona Jianu, Communication expert, Eurodesk, National Agency for Communitary Programs for Education and Professional Development, Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, congratulated the Romanian-American University for making significant progress towards best approaching the increasingly international context and responsibly and accountably teaching students to adequately apply what they have learned.
It is also worth mentioning that the RAU School of Management-Marketing (MM) marked the official Opening of the Academic year in the afternoon of the same day, in the presence of the whole MM family, and distinguished guests such as RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcuţ, Vice-Rector Mihai Sebea, and Mr. Benoit Pleska, Member of the Advisory Board of the RAU School of Management-Marketing. This opening ceremony was moderated by the Dean Costel Negricea, who underlined, among others aspects, that the logical consequence of the vision revealed on the occasion of the RAU official Opening of the Academic Year, is an adequate strategic implementation, better understanding how to leverage MM culture in this implementation, observing lean-agile principles, and quickly responding to trends, by considering the latest tools, techniques and the practical framework for successfully executing strategy in today’s fast changing learning and business environments.
