The opening ceremony of the new academic year 2019 -2020 at the Romanian-American University (RAU) took place on Monday, September 30, in the Aula Magna, in the presence of students and graduates with their families, FRAPEC’s representatives, faculty, administrative staff, representatives of social partners in education, mass-media and the business environment, and the last but not the least members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest – such as H.E. Mr. KIM Yong Ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Romania, Mr. Watabe Takahiko, Counselor of the Embassy of Japan in Romania – and other distinguished guests such as the reputed niponologist Mrs. Angela Hondru.
RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcuţ welcomed participants to the ceremony and reconfirmed the continuous RAU’s preoccupation with capitalising on the latest educational techniques and cooperating with the actors on the labour market, developing new mind-sets and capabilities, having the right attitude and the adequate solutions offered by RAU, being on the way of leading the change, mixing many forms of excellence – sharing information with the audience about the future higher education direction according to the conclusions of the 31st Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition in Helsinki, Finland, which took place from 24–27 September 2019.
Distinguished Guests were then invited to take the floor: Mr. Leonard Orban, State Councillor with the Presidential Administration (and Professor at RAU); H.E. Mr. KIM Yong Ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Romania; Dr. Cristina Chiriac, President of the National Confederation for Women Entrepreneurship (CONAF); Mr. Takahiko Watabe Counselor of the Embassy of Japan in Romania; Mr. Florin Dănescu, Executive President of the Romanian Association of Banks; Professor Dumitru Miron, PhD, President of the Romanian-American Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Culture (FRAPEC); Maria Iacob, President of the Students’ Club from the Romanian-American University (CS-URA).
And as usual, at the end of this impressive opening ceremony of the new academic year 2019 – 2020 RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcuţ awarded Diplomas of Excellence to the RAU students who achieved outstanding performance in the academic year 2018-2019.
Students, Professors, Parents, Administrative Staff, Guests also participated in the events organized by each RAU School: DIBBF, EES, DIET, PESK, MM, CSBM, and LAW. Allow us to mention within this context that the RAU School of Management-Marketing (MM) marked the opening of the academic year on October 1, 2018, in the presence of the whole MM family, and distinguished guests such as RAU Rector Ovidiu Folcuţ, President of Senate, Professor Ana-Maria Preda, PhD and Members of the Advisory Board of the RAU School of Management-Marketing. This opening ceremony was moderated by the Dean Costel Negricea, who reconfirmed MM’s assumed responsibility and determination in ensuring the latest tools, techniques and the practical framework for successfully executing MM’s strategy in today’s fast changing learning and business environments, including adequately approaching learning innovation in the digital age, considering today’s digitally connected marketplace and boosting students’ management and marketing skills, including by understanding, for instance, the role of AI in the so-called “empathy economy”.
