Levent Altinay, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Research Area Leader, Oxford School of Hospitality Management, Faculty of Business, Oxford Brookes University, UK, has been a special invitee of the Romanian American University. Oxford Brookes University is a premier learning and teaching institution with an outstanding research record, and is the only UK modern university to have achieved 24 subjects rated as excellent for teaching, having a longstanding reputation for employability, and being host to two national centres of excellence in teaching and learning.
Professor Levent Altinay has delivered on the 13th of January, 2012, in the Romanian American University’s Senate Hall, a challenging Public lecture on the topic of “Entrepreneurship, strategic alliances and international business” (Exploring how an entrepreneur’s socio-cultural background influences their firm’s entrepreneurial orientation, which in turn influences the firm’s growth; The positive impact on the entrepreneurial activities – and thus on the growth of their firms – made by the language proficiency, educational attainment and previous business experience). Students from the School of Domestic and International Economy of Tourism (Dean Daniela Firoiu; Professor Firoiu is also a Member of the Romanian Distribution Committee), interacted with the qualified speaker from the Oxford School of Hospitality Management. Members of the Management-Marketing School and of the Domestic and International Economy of the Tourism School participated at the Public lecture delivered by Professor Levent Altinay.
On January 13, 2012, Professor Ovidiu Folcuț, Rector of the Romanian American University has awarded Professor Levent Altinay the Diploma of „Special Academic Merit”, in recognition of his valuable and relevant research in the field of strategic hospitality management, entrepreneurship, strategic alliances and international business, and in recognition of his succcessfully transfering knowledge into action and continuously refining the curriculum development that benefits students in higher-educational institutions.
The Diploma Award Ceremony followed another challenging Public lecture (delivered by Professor Levent Altinay) on the topic of “How to Get Your Paper Published?” (Setting the Scene; Important Functions of Research; Profile of Management Researchers; Publication Motivations; Manuscript Review Process; Criteria for manuscript acceptance/rejection; Research Assessment in the UK; Opportunities beyond the boundaries).
At the end of the Diploma Award Ceremony (on the same occasion the Diploma of „Honorary Member“ of the Romanian Distribution Committee was awarded), Professor Ovidiu Folcuț and Professor Levent Altinay made photos with the participants.
