On April 3, 2013, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) celebrated the centennial. On this special occasion, the Romanian-American University was represented by the Rector Ovidiu Folcuț, seen below in the picture together with the Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), Professor Pavel Năstase, and the President of the ASE Senate.
The Academy of High Commercial and Industrial Studies (the present-day Bucharest University of Economic Studies) has been established by Royal Decree on April 6, 1913, the University’s first Rector being Anton Davidoglu. Today, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) is a research intensive university, having as motto: “Excellence through unity and diversity!”
It is worth to underline that on March 22, 2013 the National Bank of Romania stated that beginning with March 25, 2013, it will issue a numismatic issue dedicated to the centennial anniversary of the Academy of High Commercial and Industrial Studies. On March 27, 2013, in the Bucharest University of Economic Studies Hall the “ASE 100” Conferences cycle began with a presentation delivered by the Academician Mugur Constantin Isarescu, the Governor of the National Bank of Romania (graduate of ASE and Professor at ASE, the theme being: “Degrees of freedom in the calibration of monetary policy”), in the presence of the Minister of National Education, Professor Remus Pricopie.
On April 3, 2013, on the occasion of celebrating the centennial of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), the Ministry of National Education awarded the most prestigious honor awards to venerable Professors Beniamin Cotigaru (born in Bucharest on November 27, 1921), and Gheorghe Dolgu (born in Bucharest on April 2, 1929). Within this particular context, let us also remember three interesting historical aspects:
● Professor Beniamin Cotigaru was the special guest of the Romanian-American University, the School of Management-Marketing, on the occasion of the International Conference “Business innovation, Competitiveness and Ethics”, 10-11 October, 2008. The remarkable work coordinated by Professor Beniamin Cotigaru is found in the Conference Volume (Doinița Ciocîrlan şi colectiv, Ed. Universitară, Bucureşti 2008, Volume ISBN 978-973-749-459-7), at pp. 179-199. An interesting coincidence, on the occasion of the centennial Anniversary of ASE, was the fact that on April 2, 2013, the President of the Organizing Committee of the above mentioned 2008 International Conference at RAU, Professor Doinița Ciocîrlan, Vice Rector of the Romanian University, and Vice President of Permanent Bureau of the Romanian Scientific Society of Management (SSMAR) sent a message to Professor Beniamin Cotigaru (as a leading representative of interdisciplinary research consistently promoted by ASE). The venerable Professor Beniamin Cotigaru remembered with pleasure the visit at RAU on that occasion, the participants, including Professor James McCollum, and sent to the academic community of RAU and SSMAR warm thanks for the message, appreciating the qualitative content and expressing hope that his health will allow him to return within the framework of the traditional collaboration.
● On May 24, 2006, two years before the above mentioned Conference, Professor Beniamin Cotigaru, Honorary Member of the Romanian Distribution Committee (RDC), has received the “RESPAD Trophy” Diploma awarded by RDC on the occasion of the Symposium “Institutional-spiritual reconstruction of enterprises, requirement for sustainable development in the knowledge society”, organized at Calarasi County Hall by the Romanian Distribution Committee (RDC) in collaboration with the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) and UGIR 1903 (on the basis of the volume which appeared in April 2006 at ASE Publishing House and in which, at page 488, reference is made to „RESPAD Trophy” offered by RDC, among other things emphasizing the correlation between real success and the vision of the training team (http://www.crd-aida.ro/originsvocation/comitetul-roman-al-distributiei-trofeul-respad-2006/ );
● The distinguished Professor Ion Smedescu, the Founding-President and Rector of the Romanian-American University (1991-2008) - who made a constant and coherent effort to transpose in the academic landscape powerful ideas specific to the „cultural architect” that is his beloved „Marketing” – was also awarded, in May 2006, the „RESPAD Trophy” Diploma (http://www.crd-aida.ro/2011/10/three-years-ago-professor-ion-smedescu-founding-rector-of-the-romanian-american-university-chose-the-5th-of-october-to-step-on-the-path-of-eternity-leaving-as-legacy-the-force-of-the-feeling-of-sol/ ).
